Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan threats Turkey of withdrawing Armenia from the signed protocols towards normalization of relations between two countries.
Armenian diaspora defined Obama’s attitude related to discussion of Armenian genocide allegations in the General Assembly of U.S. House of Representatives as “cowardice.”
Commenting on recognition of so called Armenian genocide on the parliaments of foreign countires, President Abdullah Gul said, “I hope everyone will see that such political decisions are undermining establishment of peace and stability.”
House Resolution 252 passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) by a vote of 23-22 after HFAC Chairman Howard Berman controversially extended the voting period thrice.
Ariel Cohen, a leading American expert on Russia, Eurasia and international energy policy and a Senior Fellow at the Heritage Foundation in Washington believes that Turkey will react harshly, as the decision of the House International Relations Committee on Armenian genocide passed by a 24:23 majority.
“Yerevan and Baku must come to compromise to restore peace dynamics”, said French president Nicolas Sarkozy during his meeting with Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan, APA reports.
“Armenia is seeking “genocide” recognition to make territorial claims to Turkey,” Member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sabir Rustamkhanli said.
On March 4, the U.S. Congress House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee held a vote on the “Armenian Genocide” resolution, adopting the legislation 23 votes to 22.
If the U.S. Congress discusses the outdated incident, it must also assess the events that occured 20 years ago, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said.
