After Turkey and Armenia signed historical protocols on establishment of diplomatic relations and development of bilateral ties, Armenians started to voice claims on Turkish land and ask for compensation.

Voicing support to Turkey-Armenia protocols, French-Armenian signer Charles Aznavour said, “It is nice to see Turkish-Armenian opening in the last period of my life.” On the other hand, talking to Italian RAI 3 television, famous Armenian singer said, “They promised lands to Armenians in 1924, in the year i was born. Ithas not happened yet. I have been waiting all the time, and i cannot wait another 85 years.”

Aznavour is also Armenia’s ambassador to France and UN permanent representative.

It is claimed that Soviet Leader Stalin promised Armenians Erzurum, Erzincan, Agri, Elazig, Diyarbakir, Bitlis, Siirt, Mus, Van and Hakkari provinces. On the other hand, Armenia in Sevres agreement was including Trabzon, Erzurum, Van and Bitlis.

ARMENIAN PATRIARCHATE: “IT IS HIGH TIME FOR CARRYING COMPENSATION ISSUE ON THE AGENDA”

One of the religious leaders of Armenian diaspora, Armenian Patriarch of Cilicia Aram I said, “It is hightime for Armenian people to carry compensation issue to the agenda.” Lebanese-Armenian religious leader also said that Armenians should continue their efforts towards recognition of so called Armenian genocide.
