Making a speech in a conference on 1915 events in Hamburg, Germany, Associate Professor Mustafa Colak said that Turkish and Azerbaijani diaspora should get organized against Armenian diaspora.

Stressing that Ottomans settled Armenians in another province of the empire in 1915, Associate Professor Colak said that the decision was a temporary law against the rebels during the war. “But the decision was not made against any ethnicity, culture, religion or against Armenians. The decision was made to preserve territorial integrity of the country.”

THE SITUATION BEFORE AND AFTER 1915 SHOULD BE SEEN

Stating that there were about 1,2 million Armenians in Ottoman Empire before deportation in 1915, Colak said that the population of Armenians was not more. Colak said that Talat Pasha was murdered by an Armenian and his murderer wasjudged in court of the shire, in Berlin. “Armenians turned this into a propaganda. The court listened pro-Armenian Churchman Johannes Lepsius instead of witnesses of the events. Even German General Bronsart Von Schellendorf reacted to the unjust attitude of the court,” he said.

Stressing that 1915 events should not be handled only by focusing on the year 1915, Colak said, “We should also focus on the events before and after 1915. We should also see Armenian terror before and after 1915.”

Colak said that both Turkey and Armenia should open archives for scientiststo make researches on 1915 events. “Turkey finds the idea of opening archives favourable. Turkey signed a protocol with Armenia towards developing the relations between two country in Zurich on October 10. I hope the committee of historians that will be established in accordance with the protocols will contribute opening of state archives. Dashnak Diaspora has a strict attitude about the archives,” he said.

ARMENIA NEEDS TURKEY

Pointing that the recent developments between Turkey and Armenia are positive, Colak said, “Countries can hardly develop if they do not have good relations with their neighbours. Armenia is on the line of starvation. Opening of borders would revive the trade. Turkey has much to give to Armenia.”
