![]() The Armenian Association of Marketing and the Turkish-Armenian Entrepreneurship Development Center functioning in Ankara made a joint film “On the bank of Araks”. The first night held in Yerevan Tuesday. The film was made under support of the US embassies in Armenia and Turkey. Aram Navasardyan, founding chairman of the Armenian Marketing Association, said while speaking to the Liberty radio correspondent that the project of the film is aimed at mutual familiarization. The half-hour film made by art groups from Armenia and Turkey speaks of today's Armenia and today's Turkey both in the documentary sense and with the use of artistic accents. “This is merely a small step for the Armenian and Turkish societies learn a little bit about each other”. The film plot is as follows: Turkish engineers are going to build a water reservoir on the Araks river bank and apply to the Armenian side with requests. Turkish engineer Aras and Armenian engineer Tamar become friends and each of them try to learn more about the country that locates on the opposite bank of Araks. “They agree to send some videotapes about Araks, Armenia and people who live in Armenia today. Real polls held in Armenia and Turkey are also shown in the film. There are many moments that our Turkish partners could have accepted with some provisions, but they demonstrated tolerance”, Navasardyan said. He added that the film does not refer to issues of genocide. In the end, Aram Navasardyan said that they are ready to provide the film to Armenian TV channels and cinemas for free. |
