Assistant Professor Doctor Recep Cengiz stated that Turkish people did not commit a genocide against Armenians.

A Lecturer of Sociology at Dicle University, Assistant Professor Doctor Recep Cengiz said, “Armenians were not massacred. Those allegations are totally defamation of Armenian diaspora.”

Stressing that Ottoman State approached different ethnic and religious groups with a great tolerance, the author of the book “Armenian genocide debate and itssocial projection” Professor Doctor Recep Cengiz said, “The main reason for writing this book was to call for attention to the project of creating a new Armenian history and creating a new Armenia in the minds of people. Ottoman Armenians were not massacred. On that period, Ottomans had a state sturcture that approaches all ethnical and religious groups with tolerance. The state never committed a planned massacre against Armenians. There were clashes between Armenians and other ethnical elements of the region. Not only Armenians, but people from other ethnical groups also died as a result of these clashes.”

Underscoring that Armenian allegations are being kept on the agenda by Armenian diaspora on purpose, Cengiz said, “Armenian diaspora wants to distort the historical truth by using media, politics and even movies.”

Stressing that 1915 events were real, Cengiz said, “That was an unsuccessful initiative for rescuing Armenian people. People lost their lives because of poverty, and unsecure routes of deportation. Diaspora Armenians are undermining the relations between Turkey and Armenia, as they several years ago caused a clash between Ottomans and Armenians.”
