Usak Municipality will erect a monument for the memory of victims of Khojaly massacre.
Usak Municipality plans to erect a monument in the city for the memory of the victims of Khojaly massacre. Usak Municipality administration stresses that the initiative is being held as a support to Azerbaijan and a reaction against Armenia.
Deputy Head of Usak Municipality Omer Oktay Akarca proposed to erect a monument in Ataturk Culture Park in Usak city center for the memory of the victims of Khojaly genocide. Stating that a group of youths came from Azerbaijan and Agri to Usak and called the municipality administration to erect a monument for Khojaly genocide, Akarca said, "It is not possible to ignore Khojaly massacre. We are hopeful that all the parties will support the idea during the session in Municipial Assembly."
Stating that Khojaly massacre is one of the most tragic events for the Turkish World and for the human history, Akarca said, "18 years ago a genocide is committed before the eyes of whole World. With the support of Russia, Armenian troops massacred our people brutally. We are not a nation that will surrender to Armenia of 3 million population. The massacre that Armenians committed in Khojaly cannot be fit in humanity and on the other hand they are accusing us of committing a genocide against themselves. As the municipality administration, we welcomed the request of our Azerbaijani brothers to erect a monument. We have carried the issue on the agenda of municipial assembly. We are hopeful that all the parties will support the idea."
