The newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar is confident that the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be beneficiary to both parties.
"Voice of America" reports that during a meeting at the office of the Azerbaijani-American Chamber of Commerce (USACC) in Washington, Morningstar spoke on aspects of energy cooperation in the Caspian region and energy security.
According to him, the US policy in the region is balanced.
"Today, the US energy policy in the region is more complex and multi-vector", he said.
R.Mornigstar noted that the energy corridor, particularly Nabucco, plays an important role for Azerbaijan in terms of energy diversification.
Mornigstar is to arrive in Azerbaijan after 25 August.
The US Senate approved Richard Morningstar as an envoy in Azerbaijan on 30 June. Previously, Morningstar’s candidacy, which was nominated by President Barack Obama in April, was unanimously approved by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations .
