On September 5, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort.
The head of state congratulated Lefort on his appointment to the post of EU’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus
President underlined that the EU started new development phase of relations with the regional countries and expressed confidence in further broadening of this cooperation.
Lefort said that High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton showed great interest in broadening the cooperation with the regional countries.
They also exchanged view on the issues around development of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation in various spheres, especially the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
