The UPAFP reminds the public not to fear foreign intentions and to show the whole world that we have to make important strides to free our lands.
The United Popular Front of Azerbaijan Party has called for Azerbaijan to withdraw from talks with Armenia to find a peaceful resolutoin of the Karabakh conflict.
The party discussed the prospects for the peace process at a board meeting today, a spokesman told Gun.Az.
The party board said that, as a leader in the region, Azerbaijan did not have to accept the occupation of 20% of its land and should make real strides to change the situation.
The party said Azerbaijani mediators should inform the international community and get out of the negotiations, since Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan recently said at the CIS summit in Dushanbe that “Nagorno-Karabakh will never give up its independence”.
"The continuation of talks with Serzh Sargyan will only serve to prolong the status quo. The UPAFP reminds the public not to fear foreign intentions and to show the whole world that we have to make important strides to free our lands. Only thanks to our unity and determination can we free our lands. No one will liberate our lands for us," the party spokesman said.
The United Popular Front of Azerbaijan Party was set up by Gudrat Hasanguliyev, who describes it as an opposition party.
Hasanguliyev was once a member of the opposition Popular Front of Azerbaijan Party, led by Ali Karimli, but broke away in 2003 to set up his own party. His erstwhile party colleagues say Hasanguliyev and his party are not genuine opposition.
