Iran, Armenia Agree To Implement Energy, Transportation Projects

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian described Tehran-Yerevan ties as excellent and said that he made agreements on the implementation of energy and transportation projects during talks with his Iranian counterpart on Saturday. Making the remarks in a joint press conference with Ali Akbar Salehi, Nalbandian said that bilateral ties were also reviewed Saturday, IRNA reported.

Stating that the talks were held at a high level, he noted both sides voiced their readiness to promote bilateral ties. Armenia as a neighboring country is interested in the establishment of peace and security in the region, he said.

Iran and Armenia have always maintained excellent political and cultural relations, he said, pointing out that agreements on the implementation of energy and transportation projects were made during Saturday talks.

As to regional developments, Nalbandian underlined that his country has always acted in favor of regional peace and stability. Elsewhere in his speech, he appreciated Iran’s stances regarding the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh. He also said that his country seriously pursues deployment of NATO missile defense shield in Turkey.
