Levon Ter-Petrosyan clearly stressed the importance of Armenian-Turkish relations at the rally on September 23.
Armenian-Turkish relations are not likely to progress until President Serzh Sargsyan and his team rules the country, the member of opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Vladimir Karapetyan said.
He added that ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan clearly stressed the importance of Armenian-Turkish relations at the rally on September 23.
“I do not expect any progress until Serzh Sargsyan and his political team – “Nemets Rubo”, “Alraxatsi Lev”, “Mkhchiani Muk”, and Sashik Sargsyan – rule the country. There will be no progress as long as these guys have the power,” Karapetyan said.
As Levon Ter-Petrosyan earlier stated at the rally, Serzh Sargsyan’s support by Western countries was conditioned with nothing but the interest in settling the Armenian-Turkish relations.
According to him, paramount interests of US in South Caucasus require the establishment of relations between Armenia and Turkey.
"The West needs to address this issue to achieve its key objectives - reducing the influence of Russia and Iran in Transcaucasia, the expansion of the corridor for export of Central Asian energy resources and reduction of the impact of the Armenian lobby in the recognition of ‘Armenian Genocide’," said Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
He argued that, Karabakh conflict and the Armenian-Turkish relations are almost in deadlock now.
