As PKK terrorist organization increased violance and murders, ATAA released following press announcement:
“Dear ATAA Members and Turkish Americans Nationwide:
The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey has released the following security alert for people of Turkish heritage present in the United States.
"The PKK terrorist organization has committed a series of acts of violence in several European cities against civil society institutions, including physical attacks and destruction of property. All Turkish communities and friends of Turkey should exercise caution and safety measures."

Please inform your family and friends regarding this alert.
The Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) is a foreign terrorist organization according to United States Anti-Terrorism Act. The United States Department of State lists the PKK as a terrorist organization.
The United States Supreme Court recently held in Clinton v. Humanitarian Law Project that any assistance to the PKK, even for so-called peaceful activities, constitutes illegal assistance to a terrorist organization. The U.S. Court of Appeals for 6th Circuit recently held that the PKK is a racist organization that kills people of Turkish heritage or people who disagree with the violent policies of the PKK. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit held that Turkey's anti-terror policies against the PKK are ethnic-neutral and narrowly focused to protect its citizens against terrorism.
The U.S. sentiments toward the recent PKK attacks in Turkey is reflected by the press release of House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair - U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL).
"I am deeply saddened by this loss of life and extend my condolences to the Turkish people, particularly all those who lost friends and loved ones in these attacks.
These senseless acts are a reminder of the extremist threat that innocent people face around the world. We must remain vigilant against all extremist groups and operations, and continue to work closely with our allies to root out these threats."
Terror has no nationality, conviction or color. Terror is terror. All decent people stand against terror of any kind anywhere.
