'Joseph Simitian is traveling in the South Caucasus region as the representative of the Californian Senate.
He is not representing the US government, which does not control his movement and his meeting'.
The statement came from spokesman for the US embassy to Azerbaijan Keith Bean, while commenting on the visit of member of the US Californian Senate Joseph Simitian to the occupied lands of Azerbaijan.
“Neither the United States, nor the countries including Armenia, recognize the so-called ‘Nagorno Karabakh Republic”, Keith Bean said.
The Karabakh conflict erupted as a result of the unfounded claims of separatists to annex the Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Oblast of Azerbaijan SSR to Armenia SSR in February 1988.
