The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a statement condemning the murder of 13-years old Azerbaijani citizen Aygun Shahmaliyeva by the Armenian armed forces.
MPs from various countries represented in PACE signed a statement prepared by a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Ganira Pashayeva.
The document signed by MPs was adopted as a written statement of PACE.
The statement announced by the organization’s chairman at the Assembly’s meeting was distributed at the assembly as the organization’s official document.
The statement reads: “Armenian Armed Forces killed another child after murdering 9-year old Azerbaijani boy Fariz Badalov by a sniper from positions in the occupied Azerbaijani territories on March 8. The 13-year-old Azerbaijani girl Aygun Shahmaliyeva became a new victim of Armenia’s non-humanist and immoral policy in the Alibayli village of Azerbaijan’s Tovuz region, bordering on Armenia on July, 2011. The Armenian side deliberately dropped a toy set with an explosive device into the river flowing to the village. Aygun, who found the toy, brought it home and an innocent girl tragically died as a result of the explosion. The murder of children in such way is a tragedy of humanity,” the document reads.
The statement also underlined that every child must live in peace and get an education: “However, 13-years old Aygun Shahmaliyeva was deprived of these rights as a result of Armenian aggression. This tragedy was condemned by some international organizations, including UNICEF.
“Taking into consideration the fact that the murder of every child is a great tragedy, PACE strongly condemns the tragic murder of the 13-year-old Azerbaijani girl Aygun Shahmaliyeva by Armenia and expresses its deep sorrow for this incident”.
