Impossible To Solve Karabakh Conflict Via Mediators

E-mail Print PDF

The co-chairs are trying patience of Azerbaijan by protracting resolution of the conflict.

They hope that Azerbaijan will concede and abandon efforts to recover Nagorno-Karabakh.

The statement came from Azerbaijani MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev.

The protracted conflict in some sense prepares ground for them to realize their far-reaching ideas, the MP said.

“Azerbaijanis evicted from Nagorno-Karabakh have already settled in other areas across the country. Azerbaijanis evicted from Armenia also have the same fate. New settlements have been laid to improve their living conditions. These steps by the government are crucial to end life of people in carriages and mud-huts,” Hasanguliyev added.

'But Armenians have already ended the first stage in their own favor and won the battle. They are not willing to return not only Karabakh, but also surrounding districts. Neither Armenia, nor co-chairs need a peace treaty. The only power who can change the status quo is Azerbaijani state and people. It is self-deception to believe that some different country will resolve this conflict.

I believe it is impossible to settle the conflict via US-France-Russia mediation. The reporter Socor also said this at the last NATO session. He was right when he said that Azerbaijan has been left face-to-face with this tragedy.'
