E-mail Print PDF

US envoy to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza says he learned about killing of the Azerbaijani army officer on the contact line of troops from journalists.

The American diplomat, who is on a visit to Agjabadi, said a death is a great tragedy in any case.

'I want both parties not to violate ceasefire on the contact line of troops. Similar cases bring about unpleasant incidents. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are working on a mechanism to study incidents that occur on the contact line together with Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents.

We want Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to be solved peacefully. We have always reiterated that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has no military solution. Both sides should therefore continue negotiations,' the US envoy added.
