'It Is High Time For Turkey To Assume Role In Karabakh Conflict Resolution'

Turkey is already a strong and influential state.

The statement came from Vurgun Hasanli, former diplomat, political expert, while commenting on the statement by the OSCE Secretary General that “Turkey may play an important role in resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”

'We have witnessed no serious progress on part of the OSCE Minsk Group. Everyone believes that Russia has a key part in resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The high-level Turkey-Russia ties in recent years can impact the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It is high time for Turkey to assume an active role in the conflict resolution,' the political analyst said.

It is not so easy for the US and France to settle the Karabakh conflict, the analyst added.

“There are more important matters for the United States to deal with than Nagorno-Karabakh. So, it is very important to involve Turkey, which has common borders with both states and seeks to resume ties with Armenia, with this issue. Everyone must make sure that there will be breakthrough once Turkey gets involved with the conflict resolution,” Hasanli noted.
