Yerevan Rejects EU - Mediated Meeting With Baku

E-mail Print PDF

'Armenians did not expect anything good for themselves.'

EU's high commissioner on foreign affairs and security policy Catherine Ashton offered to hold the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan under her mediation. Baku accepted the proposal, while Yerevan did not.

The statement came from analyst of the Center of European Policy Amanda Paul.

"Azerbaijan is interested in the definite role of the European Union in the settlement process", Paul said.

Commenting to 1news.az about the rejection of the Armenian side, MP, political scientist Rasim Musabayov said that Armenians did not expect anything good for themselves.

"First of all, the meeting would reveal annexation and destructive plans of Armenia, second, Armenians would receive nothing either politically or economically, and it would cause the loss in expected donations from EU", Musabayov said.

"It means only that Armenians do not refuse the plans on Nagorno Karabakh separation from Azerbaijan", he added.
