Armenian tourism companies made the next attempt to present Nagorno Karabakh as part of Armenia at the recent World Travel Market held in London.
The statement came from National coordinator of the UNDP project on tourism development in Azerbaijan Faik Gurbatov.
'During the exposition, the stand of Armenia featured a separate pavilion Karabakh. We appealed with a complaint to the organizers of the exhibition but they told us that the stand features Karabakh, not ‘Nagorno Karabakh Republic’ or ‘Stepanakert’. As a result, they did not ban the stand', he said.
Meanwhile, the exhibition organizers added that next year they won’t allow Armenians to promote the tourism potential of Nagorno Karabakh.
Additionally, Gurbatov said that representatives of Armenian tourism companies were spreading booklets in which along with the tourism routes of Armenia, the exposition visitors were offered to take a trip to Nagorno Karabakh.
“We explained to the exhibition organizers that Nagorno Karabakh is the Armenian-occupied territory of Azerbaijan, that it is politically inadmissible to allow the Armenian delegation to present Nagorno Karabakh as the Armenian territory, but the organizers said they are unable to check every booklet in separate”, Gurbatov said.
