Destructive position of Armenia represents a threat to security of both the South Caucasus region and across Europe.
The statement came from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev.
E. Abdullayev noted that international organizations should pay more attention to the issue of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and exert pressure on Armenia.
"We must exert pressure on Armenia to ensure that it ceases delaying settlement of the conflict, as the status quo is unacceptable not only for Azerbaijan but also for the world community", said E. Abdullayev.
Earlier, the Russian General Staff chief Gen. Nikolai Makarov said that "after the collapse of the Soviet Union the possibility of local armed conflicts around the perimeter of Russia increased and under certain circumstances they can grow into a large-scale war involving nuclear weapons"
