The successful development of the Turkey-Azerbaijan unit causes concern in Iran.
The statement came from member of the Directors’ Board of World Azerbaijanis and head of Azerbaijan representative office, political scientist Saftar Rahimli who commented on slogans of unity voiced by the fans during the Tebriz-local Traktorsazi football contest, who raised the flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
'Iranian regime will name these people differently, and charge them with separatism and even arrest them. The main is that the idea of Turkism is strengthening in South Azerbaijan and spreads there.
The main concern of the Iranian regime is the further growth of the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey and their reaching the strategic, political and economic level. We have to say in open that Iran views the unity model of Azerbaijan and Turkey as a serious threat to it', the political scientist said.
The political scientist believes that for this reason, Iran is trying to set a model of its relations with Armenia and extends serious support to the latter in this direction.
'The main objective of raising the Iran-Armenia relations to a strategic level and fast development of these relations is to set an alternative to the model of Azerbaijan-Turkey unity.
The love for Azerbaijan and Turkey that rose in South Azerbaijan over the past years causes concern in Tehran and the regime is ready to use all methods to prevent this. However, I have to say that the regime won’t cope with the task', Rahimli said.
