Bill Criminalizing the Denial of Armenian Allegations, Again in French Senate

French Senator, Socialist Philippe Kaltenbach brought the bill criminalizing denial of Armenian genocide allegations to the agenda of French Senate on Monday.

Armenia based News.am reported that head of European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy Hilda Tchoboian told that Senator Kaltenbach may have come to an agreement with the Socialists on the adoption of the bill. “

“It is too early to say whether it will be accepted. However, it is a positive step. We should hope that party administration and presidential candidate for upcoming elections [Francois Hollande] will manage to adopt it quickly before the elections,” said she.

Armenian diaspora in the France is expecting for the Socialists, who holds the majority in the Senate, to vote for the favor of the bill.

French Senate rejected the resolution in May, 2011.
