“The Armenian side does not think that the relations can warm up by blowing, certainly the problem will not be solved by one step,” RPA spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told a Panorama.am reporter, commenting upon Turkish President’s statement in UK.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul made remarks about the Armenia-Turkey rapprochement process, saying: “Difficult problems cannot be settled by one step. The situation is so much frozen that it will not melt by blowing. There is a need for a range of initiatives. There was a convenient time once, but I think we failed to agree on everything. Everyone in the region pursued his own interest in this process. Some difficulties emerged, but we cannot say that the process is dead.”

According to the parliamentarian, currently Turkey even does not mark time but constantly takes a step back, moreover, that country creates new obstacles, putting forward preconditions.

“If Mr Gul touched upon the Armenia-Turkey rapprochement process, he had better also speak about Turkey’s policy in this issue, with official Ankara seriously endangering regional security and stability with its policy. If Turkey speaks about steps which could warm up the relations between the two countries, it should immediately lift the illegal blockade of Armenia and open the only closed border in Europe - Armenian-Turkish border,” said Sharmazanov.
