Clinton: The Resolution Of Karabakh Conflict Can Be Achieved Only Through Negotiations

“The resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict can be achieved only through negotiations. This would help establish confidence and stability in the region.

This opinion was also expressed in the Deauville statement issued by the presidents of the co-chairing countries,” US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at the 18th Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vilnius, APA reports.

Sergei Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, the other co-chairing country, also touched on Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He mentioned the meetings of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents with the participation of Russian president and the Deauville statement of the presidents of the co-chairing countries.

“France as a co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group is committed to the process of resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Despite the mediators’ efforts, no progress was made in the resolution of the conflict in 2011. However, the results achieved must offer an opportunity to increase the dynamics of the process of negotiations in 2012,” said French Minister for European Affairs Jean Leonetti.
“It is high time to pass a decision and we want the sides to use the opportunity and support the updated Madrid principles,” he said.
