Azerbaijani-Americans Start Campaign For Approval Of US Ambassador Nominee Bryza

E-mail Print PDF

The Azerbaijani-Americans have started an immediate campaign by sending dozens of letters to the Senate members for one last push in the approval of US Ambassador nominee Matthew Bryza, Diaspora members told.

“Finally, after one year and a half of vacancy, the position of a US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, has been filled by President Obama’s recess appointment last year. Having an active interest in everything related to South Caucasus and Caspian Basin regions, it is very important for us to have an Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan, one of our very few strategic ally nations in that critically important region. Unfortunately, his recess appointment is nearing its end, and his confirmation is still blocked by Sen. Menendez and Boxer”, read the letters.

According to the authors, Armenian lobby groups try to derail the nomination of Mr. Bryza by pressuring the senators to ask irrelevant, inappropriate, and simply wrong questions from Mr. Bryza that deal with ancient history, instead of trying to be productive and help build a great future.

The Diaspora members ask to the senators to ensure that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the full Senate confirm Matthew Bryza to continue to serve as US Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
