Armenia Hosts Economic Forum With Turkish Businessmen

E-mail Print PDF

Armenia’s Gyumri city hosted Gyumri-Kars economic forum.

Over 30 Armenian and Turkish companies presented their products.

“The forum is held every two years and aims to expand relations between Armenian and Turkish businessmen,” head of the Caucasus center Artush Mkrtchyan said adding that the forum was first held three years ago in Kars, Turkey. “As a result, Armenian and Turkish businessmen concluded a contract and produced the first joint brand, which is Caucasus cheese.”

“In case of open borders, people will contact more freely. Besides, it will be possible to develop a joint business,” a businessman from Kars said.

Business is the sphere, where cooperation is built. Nevertheless, closed borders hinder the implementation of joint projects.

”Such forums fill the gap between Armenia and Turkey. First of all, we can contact with people who live and work in closed borders. I can state this as an economist that nothing can unite people as business,” a Turkish economist stated.
