Head of the Turkish Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee Volkan Bozkir said on Thursday that initiative regarding a draft law criminalizing rejection of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915 would harm not only Turkish-French relations but also Turkish-Armenian ties.

Such initiatives took place during election periods, he said and added but sound ties between Turkey and France could not be ignored.

Trade volume between the two countries reached 10.5 billion U.S. dollars and French investments in Turkey totalled 8.6 billion U.S. dollars, he said. Nearly 350 Turkish companies have been operating in France and Turkish investments in France reached 500 million U.S. dollars, he said.

Bozkir said Turkey exerted great efforts to establish good relations with Armenia.

Bozkir said a Turkish parliamentary delegation would travel to France on Sunday, and hold talks there till Wednesday.
