Deputy of the French parliament Rashida Dati is concerned over the inclusion of the bill envisaging criminal responsibility for the so-called 'Armenian genocide' to the agenda of the Senate.

She said this at a news conference in Baku.

“By my information, France is currently seeing fierce debates on this issue. We believe that our Turkish friends are concerned over the issue to be put for discussion in the French parliament tomorrow. I am also concerned because of the discussions of the bill which envisages responsibility for non-recognition of any historical event”, she said.

Dati said she stands against the adoption of the bill.

“We will have fierce debates. Our political group consisting of the presidential deputy wing which constitutes the majority of votes in the parliament will discuss this issue.

I also question the rightness of raising this issue today and discussing it at all. I think that discussions must be carried on the issues serving rapprochement of people than adoption of punitive measures”, Dati said.
