Chairman of the Turkish Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Volkan Bozkir, said Wednesday that "there had never been a political character as Sarkozy in France who looked at Turkey from such a negative perspective".

Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Bozkir said that, as long as the Sarkozy factor remained, Turkish-French relations will not get better.

"I do hope that those who believe in Turkish-French friendship will be influential and defeat an Armenian resolution at the French Parliament on Thursday. If the resolution gets adopted, everybody will have to face the consequences," Bozkir said.

Bozkir underlined that he believed the Armenian resolution would be adopted at the French Parliament on Thursday.

If the resolution gets adopted, Turkey will make additional reaction, Bozkir added.

The French Parliament on Thursday will vote on a resolution that criminalizes the rejection of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915 with a prison term of one year and a monetary fine of 45,000 euros.
