Inquisition Returns To France, Says Deputy PM Arinc

E-mail Print PDF

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said Wednesday that the mentality in the French Parliament, which is to vote on an Armenian resolution on Thursday, has turned its back on rationality, being scientific and universal laws.

Speaking to deputies at the Turkish Parliament, Arinc said that the mentality in France led to the return of inquisition.

The (Armenian) resolution implies that the French Parliament is acting against the basic values of Europe. As a former Speaker of Parliament, I can say that no parliament or law can rewrite history, Arinc stressed.

The French Parliament on Thursday will vote on a resolution that criminalizes the rejection of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915 with a prison term of one year and a monetary fine of 45,000 euros.
