French President Nicolas Sarkozy commented on the French parliament’s adoption of law criminalizing the denial of “Armenian genocide” and Turkey’s reaction to it.

Agence France Presse reported that Sarkozy wanted mutual respect both to the position of French parliament and Turkey: “I respect the views of our Turkish friends -- it’s a great country, a great civilization -- and they must respect ours”.
