The bill criminalizing denial of so called ‘Armenian genocide’ brought up to the French Parliament serves political interests.
This issue should rather be probed by experts and historians. The current process will naturally make some negative changes in French-Turkish relations.
The statement came from deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s international and interparliamentary relations committee, member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, Sevinj Fataliyeva, Gun.Az reports.
Fataliyeva noted that the adoption of the bill by the lower chamber of the French Parliament contradicts European values and it will trample fundamental values of France such human rights and independence.
Noting that Armenia is occupational country, the deputy chairman emphasized that this country occupied 20% of the Azerbaijani territory and forced one million people to leave there homes.
'In 1992, Armenians killed hundreds of peaceful people in Khojaly. Current rulers of Armenia are the ones who caused this massacre and bear its responsibility. If the French Parliament is just, it should recognize this genocide that happened in front of the eyes of the world. But unfortunately, France has turned into hostage of Armenian diaspora', Fataliyeva said.
