Israeli Foreign Ministry opposed a draft law on made-up Armenian genocide” discussed in Knesset.
Israeli parliament’s committee on education, culture and sports put the draft law considering remembrance of 1915 events as “Armenian genocide” on April 24. Speaker of the parliament said that the discussions on “Armenian genocide” should have no political, but ethic character. “The denial of genocide is a thing that the history can not be reconciled to”.
Commenting on the draft law discussed by the parliament’s committee on education, culture and sports, official of the Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that this action would seriously threaten the Israel-Turkish relations. “We have very sensitive and fragile relations with Turkey currently. Don’t overstep. Otherwise it will cause serious strategic consequences”.
Previously Israel didn’t attempt to recognize “Armenian genocide” claims not to harm its relations with Turkey. The committees of foreign affairs and defense rejected the similar draft laws.
