Haluk Koch: France Can Not Behave Neutrally In The OSCE Minsk Group

E-mail Print PDF

“Not depending on the decision of the French parliament, brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan will be strengthened day by day. This decision gives a chance to Azerbaijan: it makes it clear that France can not behave neutrally in the OSCE Minsk Group”, Turkish parliamentarian of the oppositionist Republican People Party (CHP) from Samsun Haluk Koch told.

Koch reminded that they visited Paris on the eve of discussions at the French parliament. “We mobilize the Turkish Diaspora in France to go to law and to organize protest actions. Sarkozy makes these steps against Turkey to win the votes of 500 000 Armenians in his country. Genocide criteria were adopted by UN in 1948 and it is needed in court decisions to accuse some country of genocide. The parliament of France or any other country has no legal forces to pass decision on genocide without the court decision. It doesn’t become the statesman to take such instigating steps. Nicolas Sarkozy is trying to use “Armenian card” against Turkey. A few months ago he visited Armenia, laid a wreath at the “genocide” monument and made unserious statements. They intend to hide the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani lands behind these actions of France and Sarkozy. Azerbaijan has the weight of evidence to bring the neutrality of France in the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group into question. CHP will organize several visits to France until the end of February. We will mobilize the Turkish Diaspora there and hold talks with the French Socialist Party to prevent the final decision to put on vote by the Senate”.

Koch said 20 years of the genocide committed by the Armenians in Azerbaijani town of Khojaly would be two months later. “Turkey and Azerbaijan should mobilize forces to make the world to recognize Khojaly genocide. The French parliament’s final decision is a lesson for our people. This is a long process and we have to struggle together”.
