'French Parliament Will Bury Freedom Of Thought Once And For All'

E-mail Print PDF

The bill of the French Parliament on criminalization of denial of genocides including so called ‘Armenian genocide’ can give stimulus to the destruction of freedom of speech and thought in the world.

The statement came from chairman of the Holland Azerbaijni-Turkish Culture Center, Ilhan Ashkin while commenting on the bill, Gun.Az reports.

“Look at the level in injustice today that a place like Khojaly was razed to the ground on 26 February 1992 but the world community said nothing over it. Such injustice is inadmissible. The decision of the French Parliament means destruction of freedom of speech, expression and thought in this country once and for all. It cannot be defined in any other way”, the Center chairman said.

Ashkin considers that to legalize and bring to agenda the issue that allegedly happened in 1915 served the interests of France and not Armenia.

“This is because Armenia is in such situation that such foolish laws cannot save the country from poverty and problems. And France, with this decision, will not be able to kneel down the will of the Turkish nation”, Ashkin said.
