“Situation in Armenia And Nagorno-Karabakh Disastrous”

E-mail Print PDF

Though 18 passed since the ceasefire, today the so called state of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians is in sorrowful situation.

The statement was told to Gun.Az by Ibrahim Ahmadov, doctorate of Cologne University, expert in international relations while commenting on remarks in the Armenian press about social and economical problems in Nagorno-Karabakh.

'The opposition media in Armenia exposes the falsehood of official propagation but cannot define the fundamental reasons hardship and propose ways for its resolution. As a matter of fact, economical situation in Armenia and its occupied lands are not satisfactory and much lower than in Azerbaijan. And if to consider figures given by the Armenians, we can see that GDP per capita in Nagorno-Karabakh is five times less than in Azerbaijan. Probably, the truth is more catastrophic than this', the expert said.

The expert views the frozen conflict as the fundamental reason of this situation.

'If the Nagorno Karabakh Armenians give up their claims and stop the warfare unanimously, they can rationally settle economic and political problems and return back to a normal life. Otherwise, the problems will increase even more', Ahmadov underscored.
