I don’t think that the Russian State Duma would adopt a similar document like France did because Turkey’s relations with Russia are quite different.
The statement was told to Gun.Az by chairman of the Azerbaijani Fighting Youth Organization, expert on Russian affairs Saleh Shukurlu while commenting on the news about the Russian Parliament’s rejection of bill criminalizing the denial of genocides including “Armenian genocide”.
“Historical, regional and neighborhood factor play a great role here. Besides, many Azerbaijanis live in Russia, who have not less effect in the social and political life of the country. In addition, Russia is home for many Turkic speaking nations and Muslims. Of course, the Russian state considers all of these factors and makes assessment. Therefore, adoption of a similar document by the Russian State Duma doesn’t make any sense”, Shukurlu said.
The expert noted that Russia-Turkey and Russia-Azerbaijan relations are developing very rapidly and adoption of such document can seriously damage these relations: And Russia will never let it be, Shukurlu said.
