E-mail Print PDF

The Youth Union of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) sent letters entitled “Recognize Khojaly genocide” to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, representatives of the French parliament’s upper and lower houses and representatives of the government, the press service of the YAP reported.

Photos describing Khojali genocide were added to the document comprising facts and statistical data about the genocide.

The letter says:

“The night of February 25-26, 1992. Khojaly town, Republic of Azerbaijan. Armenian army units attacked Khojaly. As a result of this atrocious attack, 613 residents of Khojaly were killed, 487 became disabled, 1275 civilians – the old, children and women were captured and underwent tortures. 150 people are still missing. Out of 613 people killed in Khojaly 106 were women, 63 children, 70 old. 8 families were wiped out, 24 children lost both parents, 130 children lost one of the parents. Additional note: 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories has been occupied by Armenian armed forces. Over one million Azerbaijanis were displaced, thousands killed. Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan was condemned in the resolutions 822, 853, 874, 884 adopted by the UN Security Council in 1993. OSCE Minsk Group was established in 1992 with the view of solving the conflict peacefully. But Azerbaijan’s occupied territories are still under the control of the Armenian army. France is a co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group. We ask you: When will you, the French legislators – senators, parliamentarians, government representatives express your opinion on Khojaly genocide? When will France, as a co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group, demand Armenia to withdraw its army from the occupied Azerbaijani territories?”

YAP Youth Union will send similar letters in various languages to the parliaments and government representatives of foreign countries, the campaign will be continued.
