Member of the Europe-Azerbaijani Society for Diaspora Ulviyya Allahverdiyeva has appealed to the British government with a request to judge Khojaly genocide and occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia.
An online petition was sent to the British government in the regard. The document reads: “This day in 1992, Armenian Armed Forces brutally killed 613 peaceful citizens of Khojaly city located in currently occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
Of them 106 were women, 63 were children and 70 were elders. Nearly 1,000 persons became disabled and invalid and 8 families were totally destroyed. Though 20 years have passed, we commemorate them with reverence.
The occupation of our lands still continues, which is contrary to four UN resolutions demanding the withdrawal of Armenian Armed Forces from occupied Azerbaijani territories. We, the undersigned persons call on the prime minister of the Great Britain to judge this incredible event and the occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by Armenia.”
In accordance with the British legislation, an online petition can be send to the British government concerning issues upon which the government has authority. If a petition collects at least 100,000 signatures, it will be brought to the House of Commons, lower house of the UK Parliament, for scrutiny, Gun.Az reports.
