E-mail Print PDF

Turkish Government Spokesman and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on Monday that Turkey was following developments regarding the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian allegations on the Ottoman era incidents of 1915 adopted by the French Senate, and he hoped that French parliamentarians would apply to the Constitutional Council.

After the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Arinc told reporters that adoption of the bill was also criticized in France, because it was against the constitution and basic values of France.

"We know the process has not been completed yet. Senators have the right to apply to the Constitutional Council," he said.

The bill penalizes denial of the Armenian allegations regarding 1915 incidents with a prison term of one year and a fine of 45,000 euro.
