E-mail Print PDF

Tehran’s “Esteghlal” football club met with Tabriz’s “Tractor Sazi” football club in Tabriz’s “Sarhad” stadium within Iranian national football championship on January 29.

APA reports that “Esteghlal” won 0-2. Several incidents occurred during the match. Azeri fans raised the huge poster with the words “"Armenian Genocide" is a great deception, the only truth is the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani Turks!" and protested against the French Senate’s draft law criminalizing the denial of made-up “Armenian genocide”. They chanted various slogans against France and Armenia. At the same time the Azeri fans burned portraits of Armenian and French presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Serzh Sarkisian, as well as portraits of Valery Boyer, the author of law, a deputy of Union for the Popular Movement Party (UMP).
