Armenian Bill To Be Carried to French Constitutional Council

Sufficient number of senators signed to carry the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian allegations on the Ottoman era incidents of 1915 adopted at the French Senate to the French Constitutional Council on Tuesday.

Senators will appeal the bill to the Constitutional Council today.

Speaking to AA correspondent, Senator Nathalie Goulet said that they collected signatures of 70 senators to appeal the legislation to the Constitutional Council.

Signatures of 60 senators were needed to appeal it to the Constitutional Court in France. The French president can also appeal a legislation to the court.

The bill penalizes denial of the Armenian allegations with a prison term of one year and a fine of 45 thousand euros.
