Cavushoglu welcomed the actions of French law-markers.
PACE former chief Movlud Cavushoglu has commented on the situation with the appeal of French senators to the Constitutional Court about the abolishing of the bill criminalizing the denial of the so-called ‘Armenian genocide’.
According to Turkish media, Cavushoglu welcomed the actions of French law-markers and noted that ‘Turkey has managed to break the fortress from inside’.
Azerbaijan also contributed to this issue. We have held a strong lobby campaign among French deputies and attained much. We managed to explain to French senators that this bill will be of no use to France. Additionally, most NGOs and mass media also criticized Sarkozy for his position on this issue. Premier Erdogan was closely watching the situation, the role of Azerbaijan should also be mentioned, since it also persuaded French senators and deputies to assist in this issue”, he said.
