Azerbaijani World War Veterans Send Protest Letter To Sarkozy

E-mail Print PDF

Azerbaijani World War II veterans have sent a protest letter to the President Nicolas Sarkozy on French parliament`s bill criminalizing the denial of so-called Armenian genocide.

The letter says that an appeal condemning fascism adopted by the veterans to Nicolas Sarkozy in the meeting in connection with 65th anniversary of the Nuremberg process still remains unanswered, AzerTAj reports.

The veterans stated that they strongly condemn the bill which turns a blind eye to the fascist and Nazi crimes committed against Azerbaijanis by Armenians. The letter described the adoption of the bill as violation of the rights of French people who cherish democratic values.

The letter stresses that the bill disrespects the spirit of the World War Resistance Movement fighters, recipient of the Legion of Honor Ahmadiyya Jabrayilov, and all other Azerbaijanis who gave their life for the liberation of France from fascist occupation.

The veterans also thanked the senators who voted against the bill and expressed hope that Sarkozy will response to the letter.
