Compensation process follows the destruction, Malatya city Mayor says.

Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Turkish Malatya city Mayor Ahmet Chakir and demanded explanations in connection to the destruction of the new building in the local Armenian cemetery.

Chakir said that compensation process follows the destruction and the construction is again in progress. The Mayor added that the construction was damaged ‘accidentally,’ Turkish Star reports.

As informed earlier, the Malatya city hall destructed construction built by the Union of Armenians in Malatya (HAYDER), which should have served as an administrative guard-stop for the Christian cemetery and to hold memorial services.

As Malatya city Mayor said in the interview with Agos Armenian newspaper, they had planned to put down the roof and warned beforehand about it. However, the workers misunderstood and destroyed the building completely.
