February was announced “the Month of Khojaly” at the initiative of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum and Ukrainian Azerbaijani Youth Union.
At a meeting organized by the Union in this regard, several Ukrainian local youth organizations announced their joining of “Justice for Khojaly” campaign, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Gun.Az.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the Union Anar Tahirov noted that events held since 2008 within “Justice for Khojaly” campaign, initiated by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, had an irreplaceable role to introduce the genocide policy of Armenian committed in Khojaly city 20 years ago to the world community.
Tahirov noted that as in many countries, Azerbaijani youths living in Ukraine also bear a big responsibility in this direction.
Talking about the significance of announcing February as “Khojaly Month” last year, activists of the Union Javid Huseynzade, Ilhama Allahverdiyeva, Oksana Aliyeva, Orkhan Aliyev and others noted that within “Khojaly Month” this year, many events will be held in different provinces and cities of the country.
Chairwoman of the Ukrainian Youth Assembly Yuna Sheykhaliyeva and chairman of the Kiev Youth Center Roman Grigorishin announced that their organizations joined “Justice for Khojaly” campaign to raise awareness of the Khojaly genocide among the Ukrainian people.
They noted that ‘Khojaly is not just a tragedy. This is a crime and genocide committed against the humanity’.
