Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan arranged Wednesday an official reception at "Gulustan" Palace of Baku to mark the 85th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.

Turkish Ambassador to the country Hulusi Kilic said Azerbaijan and Turkey achieved significant accomplishments during their independence.

According to him, national leader Heydar Aliyev made great contributions to solidifying fraternal relationship between the two countries. The Ambassador stressed that President Ilham Aliyev`s successful policy had turned Azerbaijan into the region`s leader.

He noted Turkish businessmen would make no efforts to strengthen Azerbaijan`s economic power. Mr. Kilic also said Turkey and Azerbaijan would resolutely fight against insidious intentions of terrorists and Armenia`s occupation policy, adding "this is our duty before future generations."

Attending the event, First Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ziyafat Asgarov congratulated participants and the whole Turkish people on this occasion on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev.

He stressed Turkey was the first country to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence. "Our relations are developing rapidly in educational, scientific, health and other spheres", he noted.

Z. Asgarov also pointed out that Turkish businessmen make significant contributions to boosting economy in both countries.

Heads of departments of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov and Novruz Mammadov, MPs, foreign ambassadors to Azerbaijan and other officials were present at the event.
