Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov received Commander of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) General Duncan J. McNabb and his accompanying delegation, said the press service for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
The sides, stressing the intensiveness of visits of senior officials of the United States and Azerbaijan, stressed that this is an indicator of the growing level of bilateral cooperation. Moreover, it was noted that there are great opportunities for cooperation in the military sphere and there is a need to raise the number of direct contacts.
The US general highly appreciated the role of Azerbaijani peacekeepers in provision of stability in Afghanistan and Iraq and voiced US satisfaction with cooperation with Azerbaijan in this sphere. In turn, Mamedyarov noted that Azerbaijan is always ready to contribute to ensuring peace and security in the world.
Focusing on the activity of Azerbaijani peacekeeping forces, the Minister noted that we are implementing projects, aimed at restoration of the civil infrastructure, construction of schools and hospitals. As for the Karabakh conflict, Mamedyarov said that this conflict is dangerous for the entire region.
