General President of Prosperity Party(Saadet Partisi) Professor Doctor Numan Kurtulmus said that in case of applies of Christian and Armenian candidates to their party, they will support them as their candidate in local elections. Kurtulmus proposed building a monument for the memory of Armenian citizen Artin Penik, who burned himself down in Taksim for showing his reaction to the Armenian terrorist organization ASALA 16 years ago.
Kurtulmus said, "If we really want to establish a friendly atmosphere, we should make some initiatives which will show the brotherhood of Turkish and Armenian nations. We had an Armenian citizen who burned himself to show his reaction against terror on 11 August 1982 in Taksim. He died in the hospital within four days. We, for the Turkish Armenian friendship, suggest for the day which Artin burned himself to be "Turkish-Armenian friendship day" and we suggest for building a monument of Artin Penik to Taksim.
