Condemning the apology campaign which is initiated by a group of Turkish intellectual to apologize to Armenians about 1915 events, General President of Grand Union Party (BBP) Muhsin Yazicioglu said, "There appeared a group of people saying "we apologize to Armenians", who call theirselves as intellectuals.
Who are you? And in behalf of whom do you apologize for? If you had committed some guilt you can apologize. If your grandfather had done such thing there would be possiblity for you to apologize. But who gives you the right for apologizing in behalf of a nation, in behalf of Turkish nation? Who gives you the right of daring to insult Turkish nation and Turkish history? You do not have such right. I condemn you. And i do not see this apology thing as a result of logical thinking. This just could be the result of working for diaspora who ignores historical truths and who distorts history for its interests."
Stating that apology campaign did not soften the relations between Turkey and Armenia Yazicioglu said that it contrarily caused new stresses. Underscoring that he is not apologizing to Armenians as a member of Turkish nation, Yazicioglu said, "Because i do not accept the ideas that my nation committed such guilt. The real guilty people are the Armenian gangs who cooperated with invaders and who depredated our villages, raped the women in villages where there were no men, and the imperialist States who provoked those Armenians. The ones who should apologize are them. It is diaspora who organized ASALA terrorist organization to murder Turkish diplomats in 1970's. They should apologize to us. So we do not accept such an apology initiative."
